    The original recording re-released. This cassette was originally released in an very small batch, probably only 10. This tape is based on a CD-recording on recordable audio disc, made in the mid 90. We still have the original mastertape on chrome tape, but the audio spctrum of that has degraded such that we had to decide to use the CD recordings. Now on ferro c-60 tape Dolby C. Play it with Dolby OFF selection!
    The cover on the original, as we found it together with the master tape, was constituted only of the middel part, the 3-panel painting. There was no further information than "Z.U.S:NIHILIST" as stated on the cover. We added the track titles on this release, as well as some release and contact information.

NIHILIST is the third ZUS release, released in 1988 after FANATISM & HYSTERIA (1985) and AVONDLAND (1986). It was released in a very small batch of maybe 10 or 20 cassettes. There's even no mention on Discogs of this original release, which says a lot. Nobody has it! We didn't even know we had it ourselves as far as the cover is concerned, which for us is a must have to do a rerelease.

The album can be considered as the first concept album of ZUS, covering the shaping of modern world history from the Russian Revollution to end of the cold war. Lenin proclaming the Russian Revolution, Nazi scientists building the USA space program, Jessie James preaching American Revolution and South African freedom fighters doing the same in their country, and the conspiracy to kill Kennedy, it all can be heard in long audio fragments, driven by one of the first Roland drum computers.

Besides the political inspired tracks there's some exceptional balads on this release. The Mountains Got Pale tells the story of a dream in a world not yet encountered, while Worship The Sun touches on the deepest within.

Most voice recordings from documenteries and live sources were done with a Sony voice recorder, which had the ability to fast-forward and fast-backward during playback, resulting in some primitive scratching and sampling sound techniques, best heard in KEEP HOPE ALIVE.
